Upper Mustang is in the Trans Himalayan region behind the Great Himalayan Range. As the monsoon coming from the south blocked by the Great Himalayan Range, very few waterfalls in this region. So this area is completely dry and like a desert. Along the way, there are colorful rocks made from a mixture of clay and stone, which look really amazing. There are also various small caves in these rocks. It beliefs that people used to live in those caves in the past.
Upper Mustang is the settlement of Nepalis of Tibetan origin, which was an autonomous state until 1950. As it is an area of Buddhists, there are Maniwal, Stupa, and Buddhist flags along the way. The main village or capital of the region, Lomanthang, has adorned with the local royal palaces and many monasteries. The royal families still live in the same palace. Horse riding is a special attraction here. Interested trekkers from Lomanthang can reach on horseback to see the five-story cave at Chhyoser.
