Kathmandu is the capital of Nepal. Kathmandu is called the city of temples as there are temples and places of worship in almost every street and chowk. As people come to the capital from all over the country, the population density is very high. Despite the predominance of local Newar culture, Kathmandu has a combination of mixed cultures.
There are three main cities in Kathmandu: Kathmandu, Patan, and Bhaktapur. Kathmandu has various heritages listed in the World Heritage List. Each city is adorned with its own ancient palaces and countless temples. In addition, Kathmandu has the largest Buddhist stupa in Nepal, the holy site of Buddhists Swayambhu Nath, and the Pashupatinath Temple, the center of faith for Hindus around the world. Patan and Bhaktapur are especially famous for their handicrafts, woodwork, and sculpture.
